The Davis Orton Gallery, established in August, 2009, is located on historic Warren Street in Hudson, NY – a new gallery on an architecturally rich street famous for its antique shops, galleries and restaurants.

The Davis Orton Gallery exhibits photography, mixed media and trade and artist-published photobooks. The goal of the gallery is to present a wide range of contemporary artists – from emerging to mid-career to established.

Transplants from Cambridge, Massachusetts, Karen Davis and Mark Orton’s lives have revolved around photography and art for almost two decades.  Karen is a photographer and teacher.  Her series, “The McCann Family” has been exhibited at the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, MA, the Lishui International Photography Festival (China) and at the Great South Bay Gallery, Hudson NY.  She teaches courses and workshops related to photography and word and image art at The Griffin Museum and at the Davis Orton Gallery.  She has been invited to review portfolios for Critical Mass, Houston’s FotoFest and the Griffin Museum/PRC reviews.

Mark, a business coach and consultant, has developed multi-media presentations and websites for artists, helping to convert and expand their vision to an electronic platform.  He and Karen present workshops for artists who wish to design and maintain their own websites.

Married for 35 years, Karen and Mark have collaborated on limited edition, self-referential photo books including “Pretension, All About Us,” which takes a satirical look at the contemporary art world.
